Stock Value Report (Lytning Analytics)

Use this page when you need the total value of the stock you currently hold, broken down by category or location, so you can compare it against your last stock take or the balance sheet.

Goal

You need the total stock value (and the breakdown by category) for the store or franchise as of today, so you can reconcile against your last stock take, the balance sheet, or your accountant's figure.

Where this happens

• In the Core App: open Reports & Analytics → Stock Value (top-level sidebar group).
• Direct URL: https://analytics.pos.co.zm/stock-reports (opens the Stock Reports screen — Stock Value is one of the cards on it; single-sign-on signs you in).

Prerequisites

• You are signed in to the Core App as supervisor or franchise admin.
• Your role has Reports permissions.
• Pop-ups are allowed for the Core App URL.
• Stock items have a cost price recorded (items without a cost price do not contribute to the stock value).

Steps

1. Open Stock Value from the Core App

1. In the Core App sidebar, open Reports & Analytics.
2. Click Stock Value (or click Stock Reports and pick the Stock Value card).
3. A new browser tab opens at Lytning Analytics, signed in.

2. Pick the as-at date and store

1. Choose the as-at date (the date you want the value to be valid for).
2. Pick the store (or All stores for a franchise-wide value).
3. Confirm the date is correct before reading the figure.

3. Read the total

The report shows the total stock value at the top — the sum of (on-hand quantity × cost price) for every active item in the store.

4. Read the breakdown

Below the total, the report shows the breakdown by category or location. Use the breakdown to see which categories are carrying the most value (often slow movers, or fresh-food categories with short expiry).

5. Drill into one category or item

Click a category (or an item) to see the items and quantities behind it. Use the drill-down to investigate a category that has grown unexpectedly or to confirm the value of one item.

6. Compare to your last stock take

The Stock Value report is a moving-value report — it changes every time you receive, sell, adjust, or transfer stock. Compare the Stock Value figure against your last Stock Take variance report to see if the value matches what is actually on the shelf.

7. Export

Use the on-screen Export button to download the report as CSV.

Expected result

• The report shows the total stock value as of the chosen date.
• A breakdown by category or location is available.
• A drill-down shows the items and quantities behind every line.
• An export (if made) downloads the stock value list.

Edge cases

• The new tab does not open. Allow pop-ups for the Core App URL and try again.
• You land on the Analytics sign-in page. Sign back in to the Core App and open the report again.
• The value looks too low. Items with no cost price recorded do not contribute. Ask your supervisor to add cost prices under Stock Management → Edit Stock.
• The value looks too high. Confirm there are no orphan items (zero on-hand but still active) — they should be archived.
• The value differs from the balance sheet. Confirm the as-at date and the cost-price basis your accountant uses (some accounts use last-cost, some use average cost).
